2026 Ndebele Mining Gauteng Regional Ceramic Exhibition: Entry Guidelines
Eligibility and Entry Requirements
- The 2026 Ndebele Mining Gauteng Regional Ceramic Exhibition is a juried event open exclusively to members of Ceramics Southern Africa Gauteng who are in good standing.
- All entries must be the original work of the artist.
- Each artist is permitted to submit up to five pieces, with the option for one of these to be a set, group (no more than 10 pieces), or installation.
- Submitted work may not be larger than 1 meter in any direction and may not weigh more than 30kg.
- It is important to note that all works submitted must not have been previously entered or exhibited at any other exhibition.
- A non-refundable entry fee of R350 is required for participation.
- New members are required to pay an additional pro-rated membership fee, making the total payable R500.
- All submitted works must be composed of at least 90% ceramic material.
- Decorated commercial bisqueware will not be accepted for consideration.
- The selling prices must include a 40% commission to Ceramics Southern Africa. For example, if an item sells for R1,000, R600 goes to the member and R400 to CSA
- If any display props are included with the artwork, their value must be reflected in the selling price.
Submission Specifications
- For each piece submitted, four images are required:
- one showing the front view, one with a matchbox placed next to the piece to indicate its size
- two additional images from different angles.
- all photographs must be of high quality, taken against a white or pale grey background
- each image should be square in format, must not exceed 3mb in file size and should have a minimum resolution of 300 pixels
Selection Process and Regulations
- Selectors reserve the right to remove any work upon delivery if it fails to meet the established standards or does not conform to the stated regulations.
- No late entries will be considered under any circumstances.
- The decisions made by the selectors are final, and there will be no discussions or appeals regarding their choices.
Important Additional Note
- Members with accepted work must complete a ‘pot sitting’ shift or pay a R250 fee if unable to do so. See below for more information.
Note on Potsitting:
Potsitting means stepping into the heart of the CSA Gauteng regional exhibition. By volunteering, you temporarily look after the gallery, guide visitors, and help sell beautiful ceramics—both your own and those of your peers. It is a fantastic chance to study the selected masterpieces at your own pace, connect deeply with fellow ceramicists on duty, and invite friends or collectors for a personal, guided tour of the exhibition.

Ceramics Southern Africa is the official representative body of potters in Southern Africa. The objective of the association is to promote ceramics in Southern Africa by improving the work being produced and to foster an interest in ceramics by the general public.
This is done by presenting workshops and organising exhibitions regionally and nationally.
