Medicine bowl

This terracotta medicine bowl is a raku-fired vessel of remembrance and homage to my late husband, master potter Paul de Jongh. The coiled form, inscribed with wax-resist lettering, catalogues the medications from our long battle with his intractable bipolar depression—those we tried, and those we never got to. It stands as a fragile, final testament to a fight against a debilitating illness, and a tribute to the artist I loved.
