The tackled theme is prayers. The theme is inspired by Naledi’s personal challenges and the uncertainty of her and her parents’ future. And having praying sessions to God, while taking a walk with them was her way of dealing with that.
The piece “Still” is inspired by the movement and sound less harmony with praying to God from 3pm until 5 pm, just after a beautiful afternoon shower of rain. The colours of the space helmet is inspired by Naledi’s love for clouds and the type of clouds she would see between 3pm until 5 pm. Which would also be a sign of hope from God.
The space helmet is a symbol of escaping her harsh reality, while also being a safe space to pray to God. The work also portrays a dreamlike yet playful presence to the work.
