Eylene Clifford

I'm a full time ceramic artist based in South Africa near Pretoria. I make large one-off pieces and functional ceramics using different clays from earthenware to stoneware and porcelain. I use whatever methods my ideas call for. I hand-build with coils, slabs or pinching and borrowing decorating techniques from different art forms to create the effects I need. I enjoy using various printmaking techniques including stitched drawings, plants, oxide decals, photo lithography and many more. I also do a lot of sgraffito on unfired and bisque pieces, inlaying these with coloured slips to make the images come alive. My inspiration mostly comes from my experiences of the world.
