The endless possibilities a ball of clay presents is both exciting and daunting to me.   Working with clay and all its challenges, failures and successes is what draws me into my home studio as often as possible.

Since attending a workshop with Antoinette Badenhorst a number of years ago, my focus has been on porcelain handwork and slip casting with hand-drawn decoration.  The fine qualities of porcelain, its hardness and smooth surface with the ability to also be translucent and fragile make it the perfect medium for my work and constant experimentation.

My inspiration comes from viewing the work of master potters at exhibitions, and museums, and from reading books. Observing forms in everyday life and the seasonal changes that occur in nature, from fresh and decaying leaves to branches, blossoms and seedpods are things that I try to capture an element of in my work
